I think with time progressing and more and more major industries moving in it will have a positive impact on crime over time. Overall a very nice place to live, especially in the suburbs

Midtown has the school's like ums, McGill toolen and Murphy high which are good schools and alot of the homes in this area are well kept and strongly said the area is still growing after all this time oh and they have taco mommas ,old dutch, butch Cassidy, Publix, big bad breakfast, st Mary catholic school the house are older and some not that old

West moble and midtown is just old mobile vs new mobile midtown just puts you closer to downtown but everything else go hand and hand food shopping ect

From Birmingham, lived in Mobile 7 years and loved it. Crime was not an issue for me at all. Lived in midtown, Meadowbrook neighborhood near to airport Blvd.

Dauphin Island is very laid back and is great if you want a relaxing day at the beach, fishing, a trip to the sea lab, park or walking around. If you are looking for entertainment for kids, conveniences lots of, venues, its not for you. You need to get all of your groceries on the way because a full grocery trip is 25+ miles or more each way. Try Gulf Shores or FL if you want every convenience. Beach living is expensive in AL, a beach home or condo easily 500k and up, insurance gets higher every year because storms and hurricanes are a fact of life on AL coast, plus, Dauphin Island is very remote, closest hospitals are Mobile and Fairhope, an hour + away. We live almost 2 hours away for these reasons, we can do a day trip or couple days at the beach without sky high insurance, evacuations, or having to deal with the results of a hurricane. This IS a real estate ad.

One big con is storms, not to mention hurricanes and driving on the 98/10 parkway when it floods, which is every time it rains. Another is the growing population of alligators in every fresh water lake/pond/ditch these days. Anyone that is die hard liberal or woke entitled wont like Mobile or AL for that matter, Trump signs everywhere. Mobile and the area is most definitely not diverse, it is very conservative and not changing any time soon. Cost of living in Mobile area is on the high side, insurance is outrageous. Southern hospitality is given until someone gives attitude. AL native here 67 years, have family in the Mobile area. Seen people move to AL, then move away too many times to count. Lets be realistic.

Lived in 8 states so far (Boston, MA, Cincinnati, OH, Marietta, GA, Bellevue, WA, Mountain View, CA, Tampa, FL, Kansas City, KS and Northern Kentucky. Considering moving to the eastern side of Mobile (Fairhope-ish area), with some acreage, hopefully husband gets a job at DHS (I am in IT working from home), that area looks so nice, private schools seems to be also good. Never even for a second though that AL can attract my attention 😅 fingers crossed

For those of you that don’t know and wonder about the history of Fort Gains. That is one of the sites where the battle of Mobile was fought. Please read of its history. It is such an interesting part of history. As is other places in and around Mobile. It has original cannons, a blacksmith shop, gift shops, tunnels, a kitchen. It is where Admiral Farragut shouted his famous order, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!” Also I noticed you didn’t mention any chain restaurants or chain clothing stores. That is a great thing. Chain businesses in my opinion destroy the uniqueness of areas. Great video.
